Hosted by the Haitian Ladies Network Steering Committee, Haitian Ladies Weekend convenes hundreds of women and young ladies of Haitian descent each year in Washington, DC. The weekend grew out of the long tradition of the DC Haitian Ladies Brunch launched more than 16 years ago. It provides an opportunity to engage with nationally recognized speakers, make authentic connections and network, and celebrate the Haitian culture.
Over the last 4 years we have hosted over 50 esteemed speakers and moderators including:
Karine Jean-Pierre – White House Deputy Press Secretary
Edwidge Danticat - Award winning Author
Naomy Grand-Pierre, Olympic swimmer, represented Haiti in the 2016 games
Mirlande Manigat, former First Lady of the Republic of Haiti, Former Senator and Professor at University of Quisqueya
Yanick Lahens, Writer, recipient of Le Prix Femina
Claudette Antoine Werleigh, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Haiti
The Haitian Ladies NetworkⓇ Steering Committee is profoundly thankful for our partners, patrons and supporters for making it possible to convene 140 in-person participants safely in Washington, DC and engage hundreds more virtually throughout the Oct. 8-10, 2021 Igniting Our Power weekend in the midst of multiple crises in Haiti and at the US border.
